   Are silicone implants considered to be more superior to saline implants?? Is this why saline are half the cost of silicone?? How do you determine which implants are best suited for a patient?

   All implants are a silicone elastomer shell filled with either saline (salt water) or silicone. Silicone implants are more expensive because they are more difficult to manufacture. I personally believe that silicone implants feel and look more natural. Capsular contracture rates and rupture rates are similar. Your board certified plastic surgeon should discuss each implant advantages and disadvantages and allow you to touch and feel the implants during your breast surgery consultation. Educational information, including warrantary, should be read prior to your choice.
